This is more or less the colour of the water
but depends on the light and time of day.

the Four Horses in San Marco Basilica

This is for you Isy - told you I'd taken LOTS!! They are so beautiful.

The interior of the basilica is AWESOME - using the true meaning of the word - it just takes your breath away. I stood there totally entranced, the sheer beauty and majesty!

These horses stood in front ot the basilica until 1977 until it was realised they were too valuable to be ouside in all weathers so they were brought inside where they now stand under flood lights in all their glory.

Taken with the Canon - hand held

Venice - First day

The first day in Venice was really foggy - in fact we were delayed for an hour in Frankfurt because the weather was bad, but we eventually took off, the flight only took a little over an hour.
It WAS foggy, couldn't see a thing from the water bus on the way to the hotel - and here was I thinking I'd get some shots!!

Found the hotel from the bus station very easily - just a 2 minute walk. checked in, were shown to our room - very beautiful with balcony - then went out to get these shots, just round the corner from the hotel.

Cheered up a bit when I saw these images on the LCD.

This is the Academia Bridge, wooden, and built in 1932 as a temporary, but there it is - still there!
I was quite thrilled with the misty effect and took quite a few.

This is taken from the bridge looking down into the sqare. Crossed this bridge many times during our stay!

Ballet Master of the Hamburg Ballet, he teaches and promotes the ballets of John Neumeier in major cities all over the world. Michaela take note!!!

He is on holiday in Cape town right now and will be giving a lecture at the Ballet School in Rosebank on Wednesday evening.

I took these photographs yesterday when we had lunch with Audrey. He is such a charming man.

Love the hair blowing in the breeze!!!
